Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

I have read Maslow's theory as part of my PMP exam just as a topic to pass the exam. But recently one of my friend redirected me again to take a deeper look into this triangle.

What is that Abraham Maslow trying to convey through his hierarchy? And is there any relation between this and the current status of mankind throughout the world?

My understanding is, he made lot of research on human psychology and came to a conclusion that the basic needs of the human should be met in order for the human to think. The different level of the needs are separated into sections in the triangle.

On one side there are people with indigence and on the other side there are people who are preserving resources for the future.

Let's take a simple example by taking a small town in India. Not all people are going to have all the first 3 levels of needs met. Let's assume that even on the 1st level itself the person is struggling, now what will he do?

Will he be motivated to go to the next level or stay in the same level and fighting for the basic needs of food, water and shelter?

Since this is a more deep and wide subject, need to read more on this from various sources and will continue in this same topic in a while....

All letters are based on "A". Similarly, the whole world is based on the Almighty.

Finally, I got a chance to publish my own blog. I have been thinking of writing for a long time but due to some reason or the other I was not getting the frame of mind and was not getting a clear idea of what my blog is going to be?

For some reason, last sunday night I was unable to sleep. Instead of pushing myself hard to sleep I decided to drive my thought process on my long time dream of blogging. As all of us know, great ideas will pop up when the mind is relaxed. All the questions I had related to my blogging were answered :)

Here I am writing my first complete post, what else could be more appropriate than starting with Thirukural?

Thirukaral was written by the Divine Poet Thiruvalluvar (தெய்வ புலவர் திருவள்ளுவர்). He lived and wrote Thirukural about 2000 years ago.

He grouped Thirukural into 133 Chapters (அதிகாரம்) and each chapter contains 10 Verses or Couplets (குறள்). Each chapter has a specific subject which ranging right from "How to do Agriculture" to "How to Rule a Country".

Even Thiruvalluvar talked about modern day's project management 2000 years ago.

"பொருள்கருவி காலம் வினையிடனொ டைந்தும்
இருள்தீர எண்ணிச் செயல்"

Meaning: Budget, Resource, Schedule, Activities and Place of Act; All these 5 elements should be thoroughly studied before starting a project.

To simply say, it's a literature on "How to live Life". If the mankind follows strictly what Thirukural says then the entire world can live in peace and harmony.

Long Live Thirukural!
